Headroom is a small American-English publication about a single recurring problem: Macintosh drives fill up, silently and unevenly, and owners deserve straight explanations before they delete anything. It signs its work collectively as the Headroom Desk, maintains public policies for corrections and placement money, and answers its own mail.

Why the name sounds familiar

The domain spent twenty years attached to WheresTheFreeSpace, a Macintosh shareware program that analyzed hard-drive free space and pointed out its largest consumers. Our archived captures show version 2.0 published in June 2005 by iProv, LLC of Little Rock, Arkansas, sold briefly through license registration and later ClickBank checkout, and referenced against Jam Software's TreeSize for Windows users seeking a familiar metaphor. That program described its purpose exactly the way this masthead now practices it.

For the avoidance of clever claims: Headroom covers the same subject as journalism. It distributes no software, claims no succession, and no relationship with Apple Inc. or with the original developer; the old captures remain in evidence files informing nothing beyond biographical statements like these.

What the desk actually does

Publication proceeds knowledge-first: the staff maintains the Free Space Field Kit worksheets, drafts method pieces under each department introduced on the home page, reviews utilities against criteria declared inside every appraisal, and journals structural changes under Desk Notes. Questions, corrections and permissions requests route through the support desk and receive logged replies under the procedure summarized in the editorial policy.
